NewMed Energy has now reported that the well has reached its final depth of approximately 3,230 metres below sea level, but no significant gas discoveries were found in the target formations. The partnership has classified the well as a dry hole and is continuing on-site analysis.
Exploration will continue in the next area, the Krum prospect, which targets geological units different from those in Vinekh. The drilling, expected to take about two months, is scheduled to begin in the coming weeks.
