North Macedonia's prime minister Hristijan Mickoski said on Friday that an unnamed investor from an unspecified country in the European Union will invest 35 million euro ($41 million) in the development of a battery production factory near the eastern city of Shtip

Three years from now, the plant will be exporting produce worth 300 million euro annually, Mickoski said, as quoted in a government press release.

The facility will create jobs for 150 people, he added.

Shtip is home to one of the country’s technological-industrial development zones, aimed at attracting foreign investment, particularly in manufacturing and export-oriented businesses. The city has been traditionally identified with textile production.
