An 80-km-long high tension transmission line, linking the Krsko Nuclear Power Plant in the east with the area of highest electricity consumption in central Slovenia, was put into operation on Wednesday.
The operation of the 2x400 kilovolt transmission line "is a realization of the long-term goals of Slovenian energy," Prime Minister Alenka Bratusek hailed at a launching ceremony.
The national project with an investment of 63 million euros (about 85 million U.S. dollars) was completed in the autumn of 2013.
