Russian state gas firm OAO Gazprom's (GAZP.RS) power-generating arm won an auction to acquire an 89.9% stake in Moscow Integrated Power Co. (MOEK.RS) for 98.6 billion rubles ($2.99 billion), Russian newswires reported Tuesday.

The stake in MOEK, which provides power and heat for most of Moscow 's households, is being sold by the city of Moscow .

Gazprom Energoholding was the only company to bid for the stake, Interfax and Prime news agencies report.
