Russian gas giant OAO Gazprom (GAZP.RS) is prepared to invest in a regasification plant and pipelines in Japan as part of increased energy cooperation between the countries, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a press conference with Japan's prime minister Monday.

Gazprom is building a gas liquefaction plant in Vladivostok , eastern Russia , to supply the Asia-Pacific region. Companies from Japan , a large consumer of liquefied natural gas, are in talks on purchasing supplies from the facility.
