German power network regulator, the Bundesnetzagentur, Friday confirmed that it has cut grid access fees for the electricity transmission grids operated by RWE AG (RWE.XE), EnBW Energie Baden-Wuerttemberg AG (EBK.XE) and Vattenfall Europe AG (VTT.XE).
The regulator said it didn't recognize around 15% of the costs that Vattenfall Europe submitted as the basis on which grid access fees are determined.
It added that it also didn't recognize around 28% and around 29% of the costs submitted by RWE and EnBW respectively.
Utilities submit their costs to the regulator, which then approves all or part of the submission. Grid costs are the basis for grid access fees, the price network operators charge energy providers without their own infrastructure to access and use their grids.
The regulator added that transmission grid fees could be cut further as there is more room for cost reductions in operating the networks.
