Montenegro’s state-owned power utility, Elektroprivreda Crne Gore (EPCG), said equipment for the future 55 MW Gvozd wind farm will start being transported to the construction site in the country’s northwest on Monday night. The wind turbines will

be transported from the Adriatic port city of Bar via the M1, M2, M3 and M6 motorways to the towns of Niksic and Savnik, near the project's location, EPCG said in a statement on Friday.

It noted that the wind turbine poles will be transported on the first night, with the remaining equipment to follow in subsequent nights.

In late 2024, a consortium led by German wind turbines supplier Nordex launched the construction of the wind farm near the village of Gvozd on the Krnovo plateau in the Niksic municipality. The facility is expected to be completed by the end of 2025, comprising eight N163/6.X turbines of the Delta4000 series, produced by Nordex under a 25-year delivery and maintenance contract.

The project is supported by an EBRD loan of 82 million euro ($95 million).

In August, EPCG received a new credit from the EBRD worth 26 million euro for the planned extension of the Gvozd wind farm project to 75 MW in total which will include the addition of three more turbines. The commissioning of the full 75 MW capacity is expected by the end of 2026, the EBRD has said.

Gvozd will be the first wind plant in the EPCG portfolio. It will produce 186 MWh annually once it reaches full capacity.
