The Romanian and Hungarian Commissioner designates were rejected on Thursday.

The European Parliament’s Legal Affairs Committee (JURI) sent a letter to the European Commission rejecting the nominees of Romania and Hungary for the European Commission. The approval of JURI is a precondition to proceeding with formal Commission hearings. The other 24 designates were cleared.

The Romanian MEP and former minister Rovana Plump and the former Hungarian minister László Trócsányi were barred from office on conflict of interest grounds.
