According to a new report by the European Court of Auditors, the EU needs to take significant action to generate more electricity from wind and solar power and meet its targets on renewables.

Even though wind and solar power have recorded strong growth since 2005, there has been a slowdown since 2014, so the auditors recommend for national authorities to focus on closing gaps to meet the 2020 targets set by the EU, to simplify the procedures, to promote investment in grid infrastructure and to ensure better monitoring.
