Russian gas monopoly Gazprom said the company increased gas supplies to Austria by 32.9% in early 2019. Gazprom Chairman Alexey Miller held a working meeting with Austria’s OMV Chairman Rainer Seele in Moscow on  6 March to review current issues related to their cooperation, including the growth in gas exports to Austria.

“Between 1 January 1 and 5 March 2019, the Company’s gas supplies to the country amounted to an estimated 3.3 billion cubic metres, an increase of 32.9% from the same period of last year,” Gazprom said in a statement.

OMV AG is Gazprom’s main partner in Austria. Miller and Seele also discussed the construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline project from Russia to Germany. According to Gazprom, both executives noted that “the work is going as planned. As of now, 818 kilometres of pipes – precisely one-third of the gas pipeline’s total length – have been laid in the Baltic Sea.”
