Brazil's electricity consumption will expand by an average of 4.5% per year through 2021 as the country continues its pattern of sustained economic growth, the government-run National Energy Research Corporation, or EPE, said Wednesday.

government-run National Energy Research Corporation, or EPE, said Wednesday.
Electricity use is likely to reach 736,000 gigawatt-hours in 2021. By
comparison, last year electricity use totaled 472,000 gigawatt-hours.
The forecast is based on an annual expansion of 4.7% for Brazil's economy
through 2021.
Industrial use is expected to reach 346,000 gigawatt-hours in 2021, up from
225,000 gigawatt-hours last year.
