Α half-day seminar, on «Energy Policies and Strategies in SE
Europe and the Role of Albania», is being organized by the Institute of
Energy
for SE Europe (IENE) on December 13 (16:00 - 20:00), at the Sheraton
Hotel of
Tirana, Albania, in co-operation with the Greek-Albanian Chamber of
Commerce
and Industry (GACCI). The seminar focuses on crucial issues of the
Albanian
energy sector, such as RES, regulation of the energy market,
hydrocarbons etc.
Additionally, a presentation of the “SE Europe Energy Outlook 2011”,
IENE’s major reference
study on the regional energy situation and prospects will take place.
The seminar is part of a series of events that IENE has been
organizing in various capitals of SE Europe focusing on key energy
policy and
strategy issues, as part of the Institute’s outreach to SE Europe. So
far IENE
has held meetings in Athens, Sofia and Bucharest in association with
local
groups of professional associations. This half-day seminar will cover
key
energy policy and strategy issues of SE Europe, with a special focus on
the
role of Albania. Albanian government officials and energy experts will
have the
opportunity to exchange views on the country’s energy prospects during
the
panel discussion that will follow the speakers’ presentations.
Mr. Nasip Naco, Minister of Economy, Trade & Energy of
Albania, will deliver a keynote speech at the seminar. Prof. Stavri
Dhima (Head
of energy policies, Ministry of Economy, Trade & Energy, Albania)
and Mr. Engjëll
Zeqo, C.E.O.of KESH will, among others, cover
themes form the Albanian energy agenda.
Mr. Nikolaos Pazios, Ambassador of Greece in Tirana, will contribute
opening remarks together with Manolis Zarogiannopoulos, (Secretary
General,
Greek-Albanian Chamber of Commerce & Industry). Mr. Costis Stambolis
(Executive Director, IENE), Mr. Nicholas Sofianos (European Projects
Co-ordinator, IENE) and Mr. Dimitris Manolis of DEPA will cover
Greek-related
and regional energy issues.
