S Korea September LNG Imports Up 59% On Year; Coal Imports Up 30%

South Korea's September imports of liquefied natural gas rose 59% from a year ago to 3.67 million metric tons, customs data showed Monday.

Coal imports rose 30.3% to 12.7 million tons from 9.8 million tons.

In value terms, LNG imports more than doubled to $2.64 billion from $1.25 billion a year ago, data from the Korea Customs Service website showed.

Earlier this month, preliminary data from the Ministry of Knowledge Economy showed combined gas imports--including LNG and LPG--more than doubled to $3.3 billion.
