Italy 's oil company Eni SpA (E) said Thursday its underwater gas pipeline between Libya and Sicily is working again after successful completion of a test.

The Greenstream pipeline, a joint venture between Eni and
Libya 's National Oil Corp, links the western Libyan coast to Gela , an energy hub on Sicily 's southern coast. It has been closed for eight months due to the military conflict in Libya .

Eni said it has worked with NOC to "progressively restore" operations around the country.

The two companies along with Mellitah Oil & Gas, a Libyan enterprise, expect to restart production at an offshore platform in the Bahr Essalam field, which is an important supplier to the Greenstream pipeline, Eni said.
