China will likely target a total of 10 gigawatts of solar-power capacity and 13 gigawatts of biomass-power capacity by 2015 in its new five-year strategic industry plan, the state-controlled Shanghai Securities News reported Monday.
China will likely target a total of 10 gigawatts of solar-power capacity and 13 gigawatts of biomass-power capacity by 2015 in its new five-year strategic industry plan, the state-controlled Shanghai Securities News reported Monday.

The planned biomass power capacity will be more than double 2010's level, it said, without citing a source.

The cost of generating electricity from biomass resources is around CNY0.7 a kilowatt hour, which is cheaper than solar power, it said.
