The auction drew participation from 21 companies booking firm yearly capacity at all Bulgarian interconnection points with Greece, Romania, Serbia, Turkey and North Macedonia, with a total value of 70 million levs ($41.9 million / 35.8 million euro), the company said in a statement.
Out of a little over 140 GWh per day offered at the Kardam-Negru Voda exit point, 99.4 GWh per day were booked. This compares to 44.7 GWh per day booked for 2024-2025 and 34.8 GWh per day for 2023-2024.
"The increased interest in the transmission of natural gas quantities from Bulgaria to Romania is a sign of the continuing need to transport significant natural gas quantities from south to north," Bulgartransgaz executive director Vladimir Malinov said.
On Tuesday, the energy ministry in Sofia said that Bulgaria aims to put into operation the Vertical Gas Corridor linking Greece to northern Europe by the fourth quarter of 2026.
