Chinese photovoltaic array provider Trina Solar has delivered all bidirectional solar panels with a total capacity of 140 MW for a photovoltaic park that French renewables company Voltalia is developing in Albania's Karavasta coastal area, media reported on Thursday

The panels are being mounted on single-axis trackers adapted to the terrain in Karavasta, and the plant is estimated to start producing energy by the end of the year, Trina Solar said, as cited by energy news provider PV Europe.

Total investment in the Karavasta project is estimated at 135 million euro ($147 million) and is being co-financed by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the International Finance Corporation (IFC), Intesa Sanpaolo Bank Albania, Privredna Banka Zagreb and by Voltalia’s own resources, EBRD said earlier.

Half of the generated power will be sold to the Albanian public energy operator OSHEE under a 15-year power purchase agreement, while the rest will supply private operators via long-term deals.

Voltalia said earlier it kickstarted the construction of the Karavasta photovoltaic park in July, under a 30-year concession contract with the Albanian government. The French power plant developer is also planning a 100 MW solar park in the Spitalla area near the coastal city of Durres.
