Under the decision, the wholesale gas price is falling to 866 marka ($483.3/442.8 euro) per 1,000 standard cubic meters, VAT excluded, applicable as of April 1, the Federation's government said in a statement on Thursday.
The previous wholesale gas price was 990 marka per 1,000 standard cubic meters.
The government added that it acted at the request of state-owned gas supply company Energoinvest, which sought price adjustment in line with market developments.
Local daily Ekapija reported earlier this week that Energoinvest is proposing a 12.53% cut in the gas price for the second quarter of 2023 because its supplier, Russia's Gazprom, has lowered the price of gas deliveries for that quarter and the value of the dollar versus the marka has decreased.
Gazprom delivers gas to Energoinvest under a long-term agreement, with the price adjusted on a quarterly basis. The Russian gas is flowing to Bosnia via Turkey, Bulgaria and Serbia.
Energoinvest decreased the price of gas deliveries by 9.6% in the first quarter of the year.
The Federation and the Serb Republic are the two autonomous entities that make up Bosnia and Herzegovina.
