Turkeys Daily Power Consumption up 0.3% on Jan. 8

Turkey's daily electricity consumption increased by 0.3% to 897,257 megawatt-hours on Wednesday, according to official figures of Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TEIAS) on Thursday.

Hourly power consumption peaked at 18.00 local time with 42,730 megawatt-hours, data from TEIAS showed. The country's electricity usage dropped to its lowest point of 29,051 megawatt-hours at 05.00. Total electricity production reached 901,365 megawatt-hours on Wednesday, with a 0.6% increase compared to the previous day.

The majority of the output came from natural gas plants with 233,956 megawatt-hours. Imported coal plants and hydroelectricity followed with 194,784 megawatt-hours and 151,945 megawatt-hours, respectively. On Wednesday, Turkey's electricity exports amounted to 6,963 megawatt-hours, while imports totaled 2,854 megawatt-hours.
