"The EU court made a decision in Poland's favor. Regarding Gazprom's use of Opal pipeline. The court canceled the decision of the EC [European Commission] that allowed the Russian company to use 100% of the pipeline," the ministry tweeted.
In 2016, the EC raised a cap on Gazprom’s use of the Opal pipeline, which carries gas from the Nord Stream pipeline that crosses the Baltic Sea to customers in Germany and Czechia.
At the end of 2016, Polish state-run natural gas company PGNiG took legal action against that decision.
The Opal pipeline provides the mainland extension of Russia's Nord Stream I pipeline across Germany with 36 billion cubic meters (bcm) of capacity per year.
