Funding comes from the Green Economy Fund, established in 2018 to support projects that will help the Scottish Government reach its green targets.
Such projects include those that promote low-carbon heating, low-carbon transport or the education of Scotland’s workforce for a greener future. Among the 21 projects are e-bike hire schemes, electric bin lorries, zero-emission buses, a micro heat network and community hydropower station, installation of solar panels, electric vehicle charging points, battery storage technology and LED lighting in certain communal areas and the establishment of an information center for students, businesses and the public to learn about renewables and energy efficiency.
The latest funding is the second round of projects to be supported under the Green Economy Fund. Thirteen low-carbon transport and heating projects across Scotland were awarded funding in the first round.
