In a statement published on its official website, the ministry said the revenues from last month's exports stood at $7.38 billion based on preliminary figures released by the state-run oil marketing firm SOMO.
Ministry spokesman Assem Jihad said the total volume of crude oil exported from the oilfields in central and southern Iraq amounted to 106.67 million barrels, while the country exported 3.16 million barrels from Kirkuk, and 894,528 barrels from the Qayyarah field. Jihad added that the daily rate of exports averaged 3.57 million barrels in May, and the average price per barrel amounted to $66.68, down from $67.51 in the previous month.
Iraq is OPEC's second largest oil producer after Saudi Arabia.
