PetroChina Co. (PTR), China's largest oil and gas producer, said Sunday
that it promoted a director to president of the company.
Wang Dongjin, 51, replaces Zhou Jiping, who was promoted
earlier this year to chairman of both PetroChina and its parent company
state-owned China National Petroleum Corp.
Changes at the country's state-controlled companies typically
occur every few years as the party reassigns top officials. In 2011,
there was a rotation at the country's second- and third-largest oil
companies by output.
Mr. Wang, an engineer by training, has held executive roles at
CNPC since 2000 and was appointed vice president of CNPC in 2008. He
was named a director at PetroChina in 2011.
