Vattenfall Tuesday said it has signed a cooperation
agreement with four North European energy companies to plan and build an
electrical interconnector between the 
	U.K.
	
and 
	Norway
	. 
	 MAIN FACTS: 
-Vattenfall
and its partners, Agder Energi, E-CO, Lyse, Scottish and Southern Energy, will
establish NorthConnect, a jointly owned interconnector development company. 
	
	
-After establishing the development company, the project partners will over the
next three to four years examine the technical and economic viability of
developing, building and operating the electricity interconnector. 
	
	
-The HVDC (High Voltage Direct Current) interconnector will have a capacity
between 1,200 and 2,000 MW. 
	
	
-The ambition is to have NorthConnect in operation before '20.
