First Solar Inc.(FSLR) said Wednesday it is partnering with China Guangdong Nuclear Solar Energy Development in a plan to build a solar field in China's Inner Mongolia region that it expects will be the world's largest solar-energy project.

The two renewable energy companies will cooperate in the first phase of a 2-gigawatt solar field in
Inner Mongolia that is expected to be completed by 2020. The first phase, a 30-megawatt demonstration project, will likely be completed by year-end, First Solar President Bruce Sohn said today in a media briefing.

First Solar didn't say how much the two companies will invest in the project.
