China is expected to have installed nuclear power generating capacity of
70-80 gigawatts by 2020 and 200 GW by 2030, the China Securities Journal
reported Tuesday citing a senior energy expert.
The capacity will be further expanded to over 400 GW by 2050 as China aims to
increase the ratio of cleaner-burning, non-fossil fuels in its energy mix, Zhou
Dadi, deputy director of the National Energy Expert Consultation Committee,
said in the report.
China currently has around 9 GW of nuclear capacity.
The nation's hydroelectric power generating capacity will likely reach 300 GW,
400GW and 450-500 GW by 2020, 2030 and 2050, respectively, Zhou said in the
report.
