Belarus has paid in full its gas debt to Russia, the Interfax news agency reports Wednesday, citing the Belarussian Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko.

Belarus now demands Russia pay a $260 million debt it owes for gas transit shipments to Europe by 0600 GMT on Thursday, Semashko said. Otherwise transit will be halted, he said.

No-one at Gazprom was immediately available to comment.
