National Energy Administration has set up panels to create technical standards
for wind-power equipment, the state-controlled Xinhua News Agency reported
Tuesday, without naming its source, as
Beijing
tries
to curb excess capacity in the wind-power sector.
The effort to formulate standards for the industry would encourage companies
that can't meet the standards to leave the wind-power equipment market, helping
to restrain the growth of excess production capacity.
Xinhua said the National Energy Administration has already set up a leading
group, an experts panel, and a technical panel as part of the attempt to build
standards in the industry. It also came up with a proposal to set up the
standards system for the industry, according to the report, which added
China
had a
wind-power generation capacity of 22.68 million kilowatts in 2009, doubling
over four years.
