China is unlikely to introduce a fixed tariff regime for solar power
supplied to the grid in the near future, the Shanghai Securities Journal
reported Thursday, citing a senior energy official.
Solar utility projects are still very costly, so tariffs to be offered to
project operators still need to go through a bidding process, Shi Lishan, a
vice director with National Energy Administration's renewable energy
department, said in the report.
Industry participants have been expecting a fixed solar power tariff
system--which would buffer investment risks for solar projects--to be
introduced soon after a wind power system, launched in July.
