Italy's government plans to present by the end of July an extraordinary tax on oil companies' profits after record earnings on the back of surging oil prices, reports daily Corriere della Sera Wednesday, citing comments from Economy Minister Giulio Tremonti.
Tremonti is likely to introduce the measure in the government's four-year economic plan, known by the Italian acronym of Dpef, that will be unveiled in the coming week, the newspaper says.
