The European Union will assign the U.K. next week the target of getting 13%-14% of it energy from renewable sources by 2020, U.K. newspaper the Financial Times reports Tuesday.
The target is part of a Europe-wide agreement to get 20% of energy from renewable sources by 2020, which former U.K. prime minister Tony Blair signed with other European leaders in March last year. The U.K. currently gets 2% of its energy from renewable sources, such as wind power or biofuels.
